At some point in our lives, we have all suffered some emotional pain. Through that experience, we tend to get rapped up in the pain, and we ignore the essence of our soul, the day-to-day experience, and the more important things in life. Life just becomes a whirlwind of fear, anxiety, panic, depression, confusion, self-abuse, or anger. Staying in this emotionally toxic place will eventually deplete a persons spirit, personal wisdom, and physical wellness. The ego will continue to feed into this pain and project fears and doubts which will block you from healing and moving forward.
Understand the ego will manifest pain, fear, and doubt. The further we move away from our soul truth, the more we believe in the ego’s truth (false self). To manifest love, forgiveness, empowerment, and happiness comes from our authentic self. Understanding the dark side of the ego will help you move towards the light side (soul truth), and then the capacity to release emotional pain.
You have a choice. You can choose to start a new chapter of your life by living more of your authentic self, and moving on and living in the present, or you can stay living as a victim and trapped in the abyss of pain and sorrow.
Grief. You may go through a grieving process during the release of emotional pain. Identify your thoughts, feelings, and any senses that come through while grieving. Use an outlet to filter this process i.e. journal, create, dance, sing, write, garden, chant, or use a mantra. This will allow you to move towards healing and the ability to adjust to your new self-love.
If you or someone you love is feeling trapped in emotional pain, here is a 3-step exercise for releasing emotional pain.
- Identify and notice the physical body. Find a few minutes of uninterrupted time. Sit comfortably or lie down and close your eyes. Focus your attention on your breath to relax all the muscles in the body–start from the crown (top of the head) to the souls of the feet. Sense or imagine the situation that caused you pain. Identify where on the body you are holding discomfort. Place your hand on that part of the body and say out loud the feeling you are experiencing. The feelings you have are stored in the cell memory of the body. Use toning (vocal sounds) to release the pain, and to help harmonize the mind and body. You may have more than one location on the body (repeat this step for every area on the body).
- Journal. Write out your experience. Allow for automatic writing and release all thoughts, emotions, visions, and any other experiences. Then, rip it up and flush it down the toilet.
- Self-care. After you are done with this exercise, do something that feels rewarding and brings you happiness. Surround yourself with supportive and nurturing company. Allow yourself to share this experience and feel free and empowered!
Good luck and wish you much love…
